Brownfield expansion projects of NALCO is high on govt's priority: Pralhad Joshi

Union Minister for Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi has said that the brownfield expansion projects of the National Aluminium Company, NALCO is high on government's priority. Responding to a letter written by Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan, Mr Joshi said that his ministry is taking all steps for the implementation of the projects in the Angul district of Odisha. AIR correspondent reports that in his letter to Mr Pradhan, Mr Joshi has said that the proposed capacity expansion projects of the company are in line with Prime Minister's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Earlier, Union Minister Mr Pradhan had proposed to increase the capacity of NALCO's aluminium smelter plant at Angul from 0.46 million tonnes per annum to 1 million tonnes per annum, in view of the abundance of alumina availability. He had also proposed the commissioning of the 1400 megawatt feeder captive power plant to ensure bulk generation of power for the project.

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director SATLUJ JAL NIGAM VIDYUT NIGAM  (SJVN) informed that Government of Nepal has allotted 679 MW Lower Arun Hydro Electric Project in Nepal to SJVN through competitive bidding. The Investment Board of Nepal in its meeting on 29.01.2021, chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal, Sh. K.P. Sharma Oli has awarded the Project to SJVN. Sh.   Military seizes power in Myanmar, announces 1 year emergency AIR Pics The Myanmar Military Tatmadaw has announced a one year state of emergency in the country.  The Vice President  Myint Swe has been made the acting President and all powers have been transferred to the Commander in Chief Min Aung Hlaing. The announcement was made on Monday on the military backed TV Myawaddy channel. The Military said  that the leaders have been detained for committing fraud in the national elections held on Nov. 8, reports Reuters. The development follows early morning detention of the State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, President Win Myint and other senior leaders from the ruling party National League for Democracy (NLD) by the military.
