UK applying to join Asia-Pacific free trade pact CPTPP

The UK is applying to join a free trade area made up of 11 Asia and Pacific nations, under its post-Brexit plans. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership  (CPTPP) . The trade agreement formed in 2018 which  includes Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.


In total, it covers a market of around 500 million people, generating more than 13% of the world's income. International Trade Secretary Liz Truss will make the request on Monday, with negotiations expected in the spring.

  Successful Maiden Test Launch of Akash-NG Missile DRDO conducted the successful maiden launch of Akash-NG (New Generation) Missile from Integrated Test Range off the coast of Odisha on 25 January 2021. Akash-NG is a new generation Surface to Air Missile meant for use by Indian Air Force with an aim of intercepting high maneuvering low RCS aerial threats. The missile intercepted the target with text book precision. The launch met all the test objectives by performing high maneuvers during the trajectory.   Way to predicting solar cycles-- Kodaikanal Solar Observatory Digitized Data probes Sun’s rotation over the Century Scientists have estimated how the Sun has rotated over a century from data extracted from old films and photographs that have been digitized. This estimation would help study magnetic field generated in the interior of the Sun, which causes sunspots and results in extreme situations like the historical mini-ice age on Earth (absence of sunspots).  It could also help predict solar cycles and their variations in the future. The Sun rotates more quickly at its equator than at its poles. Over time, the Sun's differential rotation rates cause its magnetic field to become twisted and tangled. The tangles in the magnetic field lines can produce strong localized magnetic fields.
